<p>A process for crystallising amorphous dry granulate from linear fibre-forming polyesters contg. >=80% by wt ethylene terephthalate units is as follows(1) the amorphous granulate is introduced into a pref. cylindrical, stirred, first reaction zone contg. some granulate already crystallised (2) air at inlet temp 140-200 (160-190) degrees C flows up through this, the dwell time being 3-30 (5-15) mins, (3) the granulate then overflows into a horizontal or slightly inclined, trough-shaped second zone at a similar level, with a similar upward hot-air flow, the granulate moving is approx. plug flow with a mean dwell-time of 3-30 (5-15) mins, and (4) it is then air-cooled and removed.</p> |
