Concrete is cast with a dummy joint sealed by a flexible waterstop embedded by keying formations into the concrete, by a method in which a crack is formed as the dummy joint, a crack-inducing body, e.g., a piece of wood being fixed in position, e.g., by spring clips, opposite the center line of each waterstop. The invention also includes a novel assembly of a waterstop and a spring clip for holding the crack-inducing body.
