Telephone equipment line testing apparatus, applies signals controlling switching means in binary form over wires divided into two groups. Signal wires of one group are value range selection wires connected to inputs of a value range coder, and signal wires in the other groups are value selection wires forming certain value combinations in the selected value range. They are connected to first inputs of a distributor. Outputs of the value range coder are connected to the distributor second inputs, of which at least one is activated for a value range. They are individually connected to the switching means by which this value range can be determined.
