PURPOSE:To make compatible discharge efficiency and closing efficiency by forming a separator from a combed paper body which is made by mixedly coming synthetic thick glass fiber and thin glass fiber and positioning the surface rich in thick fiber on the negative electrode side and facilitating the absorption of oxygen gas on the negative electrode. CONSTITUTION:In a tank 1, thick glass fiber having a diameter above 1mu and thin glass fiber having a diameter less than 1mu are put and dispersed in water. After agitated by an agitator 2, the both is allowed to flow down on a revolving screen belt 3. As for the glass fiber which flowed down at the point A, thicker fiber sinks faster and thinner fiber sinks more slowly, according to empty weight, and at the point B, lamination layer is formed so that the part rich in thicker fiber is in the lower layer, and rich in thinner fiber in the upper layer. The combed paper body thus obtained is used as separator, and the side rich in thinner fiber 5 is contacted with positive electrode, and the side rich in thicker fiber 4 is contacted with the negative electrode side. Thus, a closed-type lead accumulator having the structure in which electrolyte is impregnated between the separator and the electrode plate is obtained. |
