A composition comprising a combination of bencyclane fumarate and cyclodextrin is pharmaceutically active as also is an inclusion of the fumarate and cyclodextrin.

By combining the bencyclane fumarate with the cyclodextrin, the adverse effects associated with the use of bencyclane alone are greatly decreased.

The composition can be easily manufactured by admixture of the fumarate and cyclodextrin and maytake the form of a preparation suitable for use by oral or external administration, by injection or as a suppository.
