A screw conveyor that is set up for controlled agitation and/or metered feed of material and/or controlled mixing of the material in another material in the conveyor before feed. The screw conveyor has a housing 1, a conveyor screw 2 rotatable in the housing, a drive device 3 connected to screw 2, material discharge 10 from the housing and at least one feed device 7 connected to the housing for a stream of material. Housing 1 has a chamber 11 that houses part of a screw 2 and is bounded in the longitudinal axis of the screw by a flange 12 against which the material transported by screw 2 is fed during rotation of the screw in a first direction of rotation. The screw 2 and/or chamber 11 are formed to promote reflow of material. A pulse device recognizes the material's resistance to the conveyor work of the screw 2 during operation of the screw in the first direction of rotation. An actuation device is set up to feed material from chamber 11 through the material discharge 10 on a pulse from the pulse device when the material's resistance reaches a reference value. <IMAGE> |
