The invention relates to a heart/lung testing device having a mouthpiece for the patient and a device for generating a signal that is proportional to the inhaled and exhaled flow, a CO2 analyser and an O2 analyser for the exhaled flow, which likewise generate signals, and a waveform analyser which has a computer and means for scanning the electrical signals in a predetermined sequence and for converting from these into digital form, as well as a device for at least temporary storage of the digital variables for use in arithmetic operations, a display for the results being provided which is controlled by a further computer to which the results of the first computer are transmitted.
