The case (110) is mounted in, e.g, the vehicle dashboard, with its axis (X-X') normal to the supporting surface (10), beyond which only the end (100) protrudes. The light (121) of the axially mounted lamp (120), reflected by the silvered interior (113), emerges (Y-Y') through an angled slot (130) in the protruding end to illuminate a specific area or piece of equipment inside the vehicle. The slot sides cut off direct light (122). Optionally, more elaborate optical arrangements to direct the light between lamp and aperture are described. In a variant, a flat case with an elongated slot and twin festoon lamps illuminates an extended area. USE/ADVANTAGE - For illuminating vehicle dashboard and esp. ignition key entry socket and bonnet release lever. Constructionally convenient, with accurate light control and minimum scatter. |
