A system and a method for providing a character growing service to a mobile communication terminal by using a location based service are provided to install a character growing server in a mobile communication network and provide an item and game which can be obtained at a specific location when a user, using the character growing service by interworking a character growing server with a location based server, accesses the character growing server at the specific location, so that a mobile communication subscriber can interest in the character growing which can be boring. A method for providing a character growing service to a mobile communication terminal by using a location based service comprises the following steps of: receiving location information of the mobile communication terminal from a location based server and transmitting a location based event message, for informing a location based event, to the mobile communication terminal(S300,S306); receiving an access requesting signal from the mobile communication terminal and transmitting a character list, used in the character growing service, to the mobile communication terminal(S308,S316); and performing the location based service by transmitting information related with the location based event to the mobile communication terminal(S320).
