The invention concerns a phase-transition material for storing heat in the form of latent heat of transformation which can be retrieved when needed. This type of storage has numerous potential applications, a major application being the storage of waste heat produced by motor vehicles, which would otherwise be lost. Magnesium nitrates bonded to water, admixed with nitrates of alkali metals or alkaline earth metals have proved suitable as phase-transition materials. |
