PURPOSE: To remove NOx, carbon monoxide and/or org. compds. from various waste gases by using a carrier-supported catalyst on the basis of transition metals without using metal phthalocyanine complex salts. CONSTITUTION: The carrier-supported catalyst on the basis of the transition metals is obtd. on condition that the metal phthalocyanine complex salts are not used as the transition metal compd. The waste gas treatment is cost effectively carried out by depositing the metal complex compd. having a nearly plane molecular conformation on the support by any of the methods of activating nitric acid and/or oxidizing agent soln. at room temp. to 500 deg.C in NOx and/or gas of oxygen or treating the metal oxide or carbonate in the free ligand-contg. oxidative gas having complex compd. formability at a room temp. to 500 deg.C or treating the metal oxide or carbonate with the nitric acid and/or the oxidizing agent or the soln. having the complex compd. formability.
