PURPOSE:To provide the bright reflection type display device by providing the upper side of an STN type liquid crystal of a phase plate system with a fiber plate and the lower side with a mirror. CONSTITUTION:This liquid crystal display device consists of the constitution laminated, successively from the upper side, with the fiber plate 10, an upper polarizing plate 21, an upper glass substrate 31, an upper transparent electrode 41, the STN liquid crystal 51, a lower transparent electrode 42, a lower glass substrate 32, a first double refractive film 61, a second double refractive film 62, a lower polarizing plate 22 and a mirror 70. The light reflected by the lower polarizing plate 22 transmits the lower polarizing plate 22 in the state of maintaining the polarization state and, therefore, there is substantially no absorption and since the light is diffused by the fiber plate 10, the bright reflection type liquid crystal display device is obtd. |
