PURPOSE:To provide a process for the production of a crystalline rock having an attractive (lustered) appearance. CONSTITUTION:A crystalline rock having lustered grain texture is produced by using a blast furnace slag as a main component, adding 5-20wt.% of feldspar, melting the mixture to obtain a composition having an SiO2/CaO ratio of 0.85-1.20 and cooling the molten mixture to include a vitreous component in the crystalline matrix. A crystalline rock having desired color can be produced by adding a colorant consisting of a metal oxide in the melting process or carrying out the melting in excessive oxygen atmosphere or in the presence of an oxidizing material which releases oxygen by thermal decomposition. |
