PURPOSE:To carry a plenty of electrode active material in a close adhesion by making a metal foil or a metal porous body sheet as a holding body, and covering a battery electrode main body in which an electrode active material is carried in the holding body, with a mesh metallic cloth. CONSTITUTION:A battery electrode is formed by making an electrode holding body carry an electrode active material, and it is covered with a mesh metallic cloth, so as to increase the close adhesion between the active material and the holding body, and the holding efficiency of an active material layer. This mesh metallic cloth is manufactured by applying a metal plating on a woven fabric or an unwoven fabric of a synthetic resin fiber, or on a foaming body sheet of a synthetic resin with a contineous foaming structure. A metal porous body sheet can be manufactured in the method same as in the mesh metallic cloth, and in this case, after the metal plating is applied, an annealing is applied to give a flexibility to the mesh metallic cloth. Furthermore, a base body is burned and removed, or solved and removed, so as to leave only a metallic skeleton. And the mesh metallic cloth is laminated on both sides of the electrode main body, and rolled. As a result, the active material and the contact part of the mesh metallic cloth are contacted, and the electric conductibility and the heat conductibility at the contacts are improved. |
