SURFACE MOUNTING TYPE VARIABLE RESISTOR AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PURPOSE: To acquire a microminiaturized variable resistor which enables sure adjustment and easy assembly by an automatic adjustment device by forming a plurality of fitting pieces fit to a fitting part integrally with a sliding piece. CONSTITUTION: A T-shaped projecting fitting piece 20 is formed in three places in an upper surface of a sliding piece 12 and is fit to a fitting part 24 of a resin driver slot member 22. A +-shaped driver slot 26 is formed in a central part of the member 22, formed large enough to be mounted on an upper surface of the sliding piece 12 and the fitting part 24 consisting of a cut-out part 24a and an uneven part 24b is provided to a place in opposition to the fitting piece 20. A slope 28 is formed between slots of the driver slot 26 and a driver for adjustment is set in the +-shaped slot 26. A plane part 32 parallel to a surface of a chip substrate 10 is formed in a circumference of the slot 26 and the slope 28 and can be attracted by an automatic mounting device. A pair of terminal electrodes 30 are set in one edge face part of the chip substrate 10.
