PURPOSE:To easily form stable marking having a metal color on the surface of a transparent or translucent member such as a glass plate. CONSTITUTION:A transparent or translucent member, for example, a glass plate 12 is superposed on a metal plate 10 having a metal color desired as a pattern color and irradiated with YAG laser beam LA from above. Since the YAG laser beam LA has a wavelength of about 1.06mum. the YAG laser beam LA transmits through the glass plate (transparent member) 12 to irradiate the metal plate. Metal is locally melted or evaporated under heating by laser energy in the part irradiated with the laser beam LA of the metal plate 10. Since the gap between the metal plate 10 and the glass plate 12 is substantially hermetically closed, the metal melted or evaporated under heating of the metal plate 10 is bonded to the surface of the opposed glass plate 12 without being scattered. |
