<p>PURPOSE:To switch input and output sides according to light so as to achieve connections by exerting each of optical fiber ends with lateral pressure on contact with the surfaces of two solids each having ultrasonic wave generation means. CONSTITUTION:A plurality of holding portions 2 each comprising a plate-shaped solid are disposed on input I and output II sides and optical fibers 1 are held between the holding portions 2 and the end of each of the optical fibers makes contact with the surface of each holding portion 2 and is exerted with lateral pressure. The holding portions 2 are oriented in the horizontal direction on the input side I and in the vertical direction on the output side II. Each of the holding portions 2 includes two piezoelectric ceramics serving as ultrasonic wave generation means, and the optical fiber ends can be moved by the ultrasonic wave of the ultrasonic wave generation means. Some of the optical fibers 1 therefor can be selectively connected on the input I and output II side. A fitting portion 5 for positioning the optical fiber ends at high accuracy is disposed between the input I and output II sides. Therefore, no motor is required and the need for a gear mechanism for converting to rectilinear motion is eliminated.</p> |
