The machine has a housing (11), which contains a drive or driven shaft (21) and at least one gear arrangement (15) coupled to the shaft. The gear arrangement is comprises at least two externally intermeshing gears. At least one of the gears is a multiple gear (16) and is made up of sintered or plastics single gears (16.1-16.3), which are co-rotatably coupled to the shaft by a common coupling element (20). The single gears have identical toothing geometries and lie flush together along the coupling element. The gears have different wheel widths (B). The coupling element is formed as a sleeve that is rotatably mounted on a hollow tubular journal (27) fixed to the housing (11) and coaxial to the shaft (21).
