The telescopic rod has at least one outer tube (1) in which a moving inner tube (2) is guided. An eccentric locking mechanism is fastened to an end wall of the inner tube, so that it rotates at least partly with it. The mechanism can be operated by twisting the tubes in opposite directions, and has one or more clamping elements to act on the inner wall of the outer tube, which has longitudinal profiling. The latter may be formed by grooves and/or ribs which extend in the longitudinal direction.
