FIELD: gas treatment. SUBSTANCE: invention deals with purifying gases containing small amounts of aromatic compounds in non-stationary mode. Gas is passed through two catalyst beds, separated by free space, and regenerative heat exchangers disposed before and after catalyst beds. Gaseous agent (ozone-oxygen or ozone-air mixture with 0.4-0.7 g of ozone in 1 cu.m) is introduced into gas stream when being passed between the two catalyst beds. Gas directions are periodically inverted. Temperature in catalyst bed is 50-70 C. EFFECT: increased purification degree and reduced ozone and power consumption. 2 cl, 2 dwg
