The pumping of fluids, especially water, to heights in excess of what is normally possible is effected by establishing a plurality of interconnected fluid-filled chambers (38a, 42a, 38b, 42b) between a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet, and creating a cyclic pressure pulse to act on the chambers so as to force fluid from chamber to chamber towards the outlet. The chambers have flexible walls and the pressure pulses act to displace the walls so as to change the chamber volume.
|
