The valve has a valve body that separates a pressure connection (P) from a tank connection (26) and is moved into a release position, in which the pressure and tank connections are connected together, against a counteracting force when a predefined pressure is exceeded in a pressure medium at the pressure connection. The valve body is a bearing needle (8) that is moved over about half its length.
