PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contents providing method, a program for the contents providing method, a recording medium for recording the program of the contents providing method, and a contents providing apparatus, which are applied e.g., to program viewing of a television broadcast and can attain ease of listening of each program, more so than in prior art, when simultaneously viewing of a plurality of programs. SOLUTION: The contents providing method includes a sound processing step of differentiating the characteristics of sounds, according to at least one processing among a plurality of processing procedures for differentiating the sound characteristics of a plurality of contents; and a processing switching step of switching the processing procedures of the sound processing step according to the instruction of the viewer.
