PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately restore original functions of a destroyed program in the case of a failure of program update with update data received through an external connection I/F. SOLUTION: In the case of update processing, an update object program object is specified by update data received through the external connection I/F and is previously saved to an external server by a save function (S301). After update processing, the saved object before update is received from the external server by a restore function and is restored by write back to a ROM (S303), in the case of a failure of processing. This invention includes an invention where a function of saving and restoring not only the object being the update object but also a program object group being a core of functions of an apparatus is added.
