PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly move a pointer to a position pointed with the finger on the display picture of a video display device. SOLUTION: This pointing device to be mounted on the hand or finger is provided with a light source part 1. The light source part 1 is mounted on the top end of, for example, the index finger, and configured to emit lights to a direction pointed by the finger. When the light source part 1 is mounted on the index finger, the rays of light to be emitted from the light source part 1 are made to go to the direction shown by the finger, and to reach a desired position on a display picture. In this video display device, the position to which the rays of light are butted (the position pointed by the finger) is detected so that the pointer can be moved to the position.
