A respiratory mask assembly for delivering breathable gas to a patient, comprising: a frame (20) having a main body including a first lateral side and a second lateral side; and a headgear assembly (80) removably attachable to the frame, the headgear assembly having a first strap portion (94) provided to the first lateral side of the main body and a second strap portion (94) provided to the second lateral side of the main body; and a yoke portion (92) provided to each of the first and second strap portions and coextending along a major portion of each of the strap portions, each yoke portion being made of a material adding some degree of rigidity to each of the strap portions.
