STORAGE MEDIUM, METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING SOFTWARE UPDATE OF MULTIMEDIA DEVICE USING THE STORAGE MEDIUM

A storage medium, a multimedia device using the same and a software update method are provided to automatically update software performing various functions of the multimedia device by using the storage medium, thereby increasing convenience of a user and update multimedia contents by the latest DRM(Digital Resource Management) software. A method for updating software of a multimedia device by using a storage medium comprises the following steps of: reading software stored in a predetermined area of the storage medium(410); comparing a version of the read software with a version of software stored in a predetermined area of the multimedia device(420); and updating the software of the multimedia device by using the read software if the version of the read software is newer than the version of the software stored in the predetermined area(430,440).
