A color filter substrate and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to simplify the process of work by implementing spacers according to superposition of at least two color filters. A color filter substrate includes a black matrix(120), color filters(130R,130G,130B), and spacers(140). The black matrix comparts cell regions on a substrate(110). The color filters are formed on the cell regions by the black matrix. The spacers overlapped with the black matrix maintain cell gaps. The spacers are formed by overlapping at least two color filters. The color filter substrate further includes an over coating layer formed on the color filter and an alignment layer formed on the over coating layer.
