PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which can suppress the amount of fluid to be consumed when reserve discharge is implemented in a fluid ejecting device. SOLUTION: The fluid ejecting device comprises a storage part, a head 100 which discharges the fluid supplied from the storage part from a plurality of nozzles and has a fluid discharge path for discharging the fluid from the storage part without making it pass through each nozzle, and a head cap device which contacts the head 100 and receives the fluid discharged from the nozzles and the fluid discharged from the fluid discharge path. The head 100 and the head cap device, while contacting each other, have a head side channel forming a circulation channel through which the fluid flowing out of the storage part through each nozzle and the fluid discharged from the fluid discharge path return to the storage part and a head cap device side channel. The head side channel has an inlet side channel part on the inlet side of each nozzle and the fluid discharge path which is formed as a channel different from the inlet side channel part.
