PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate transfer apparatus capable of forming a toner image of high quality with less variation of an deformation area by drawing out a toner image transferred and fixed onto a recorded medium, with high deformation efficiency, having no adverse effect on the performance of other apparatus, excelling in durability, preventing the toner image from being offset to a heating member and furthermore having a small quantity of heat consumption, saving resources and low in cost and to provide an image forming apparatus having the intermediate transfer apparatus. SOLUTION: The intermediate transfer apparatus comprises a movably-held intermediate transfer body 1 to which the toner image T is transferred; a heating means 2 for heating the toner image T held on the intermediate transfer body 1; a deforming means 3 turnably held to pressurize and deform the toner image T heated by the heating means 2; and a linear velocity difference imparting means 4 imparting linear velocity difference to linear velocity of a toner image deforming area part A on the deforming means 3 and to linear velocity on the intermediate transfer body 1 holding the toner image T.
