<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which never generates transfer misalignment, wrinkles, fixation failure or image defects by automatically detecting the stiffness of a recording medium and maintaining the sage amount of the recording medium between transfer and fixation within a fixed range. <P>SOLUTION: A conveying guide 21 is arranged between a transfer nip portion N1 between a photoreceptor drum 5 and a transfer roller 14 and a fixing nip portion N2 between a fixing roller 16a and a pressure roller 16b. A paper height sensor 25 measuring the distance from the guide surface 21a of the conveying guide 21 to a paper P is arranged inside the conveying guide 21. A control section 33 calculates a guide-to-paper distance by using an output voltage transmitted from the paper height sensor 25, judges the thickness of the paper by using the relation between the guide-to-paper distance and the basis weight of the paper, which is prestored in a storage section 34 and transmits a control signal to a fixing driving motor 38, on the basis of the judgment result, to adjust a fixing linear velocity. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
