PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new technique for highly sensing the detection of a target material in a specimen using an immunoagglutination method.SOLUTION: The particle dispersion having carrier particles uses an aqueous medium including a low molecular weight compound having a naphthalene frame as a dispersion medium. The low molecular weight compound having the naphthalene skeleton is acetyl naphthalene, and the carrier particles are latex particles derived from a monomer component having a carried material bondable to a target material and having an aryl group. The method for detecting a target material includes the step of detecting the target material using an immunoagglutination method for contacting a specimen with the carrier particles in the presence of the low molecular weight compound.SELECTED DRAWING: None
