DC-DC CONVERTER ASSEMBLY WITH AN OUTPUT INDUCTOR ACCOMMODATING A POWER STAGE ATTACHED TO A CIRCUIT BOARD

A DC-DC converter assembly includes a substrate which has a first lateral surface and a second lateral surface facing the first lateral surface, a power stage die of the DC-DC converter attached to the first lateral surface of the substrate, and an output inductor which is electrically connected to the output terminal of the power stage die and is arranged on the power stage die on the first lateral surface of the substrate. The output inductor includes a magnetic core, and an electric conductor which has a first terminal and a second terminal attached to the first lateral surface of the substrate. The output inductor accommodates the power stage die under the magnetic core to interpose the power stage die between the substrate and the magnetic core. Also, a method for manufacturing a corresponding DC-DC converter assembly and a method for manufacturing the output inductor are disclosed. So, the arrangement of DC-DC converter components can be simplified.
