One aspect of the present invention relates to a computer-based system suitable for use in controlling supply of fluid from a fluid source to the fluid distribution network based on changing flow parameters. The system includes a pump for pressurizing the fluid along a supply path. The operation of the pump is controlled by a control component which has at least a processor and a memory system containing a set of algorithms. When the algorithms are executed by the processor from the memory system, the control component is caused to filter a first and second data sets associated with flow and differential pressure values, respectively, and then determine a pump curve defining a least a relationship of flow and differential pressure of the fluid flowing along the supply path based on the filtered first and second data sets. The control component, upon execution of said algorithms, further causes continuous activation of at least one operating parameter of the pump based on the pump curve determined for every single time period.
