964,847. Shaping concrete. SKOVDE GASBETONG A.B. Oct. 15, 1962 [Oct. 24, 1961], No. 38873/62. Heading B5E. A method of planing the side surfaces of parallelepipedic-shaped blocks of concrete 1 comprises moving a rotary cutter 12<SP>1</SP> in contact with the block along the plane of the desired finished side surface so that its cutting teeth enter the side surface at one edge thereof and leave the side surface in a portion thereof which forms an angle with the plane of the desired finished side surface. In order to avoid a ragged edge caused by the teeth 11 of the cutter 12<SP>1</SP> when they leave the block, a second cutter 3<SP>1</SP> is arranged to cut an angular surface 7 on the side surface ahead of the cutter 12<SP>1</SP> as shown in Fig. 1, the cutter 3<SP>1</SP> rotating in an opposite direction to the cutter 12<SP>1</SP>. The teeth of the cutter 12<SP>1</SP> leave the side surface just above the bottom edge so that a slight tapered portion 15 is left; a second pair of cutters 3<SP>11</SP>, 12<SP>11</SP> may be used to simultaneously plane the opposite side surface. In a modification, the angular surface may be of a large angle, e.g. 45 degrees, and produced by a conical cutter. In a further modification shown in Fig. 5, a corner of a block 1 is removed by a cylindrical cutter 27, two cutters 12a being moved along the block so that their teeth break out of the side surfaces 25 to leave a slight chamfer 26. Instead of the cylindrical cutters 12, a facing cutter having removable tipped cutting teeth may be used. |
