Novel 13b ,17a - dialkyl - 4,5 - seco - 18,19-dinor - pregna - 9,11 - diene - 3,5,20 - triones of the formula <FORM:1094810/C2/1> wherein R and R1 each represent an alkyl group containing from 1 to 4 carbon atoms are obtained by reacting the corresponding 3-chloro-13b ,17a - dialkyl - 4,5 - seco - 18,19 - dinor - pregna - 2,9,11 - triene - 5,20 - dione with an acid hydrolysing agent, e.g. sulphuric acid. |
