To erect a mobile tower crane outriggers 4 are moved to their operative positions and the tower 10a is rotated clockwise by a ram 11 from a horizontal to a vertical position. A jib 12 is next raised from a position A by a winch 7, a pulley system 23, cables 25, 19, 18, and lever arms 14, 15. The jib is locked in one of several operating positions by a hinged strut 33 which prevents excessive anti-clockwise rotation of the jib. Ties 32 support the tower, which is telescopic, in the raised position. |
