1,147,853. Carbon fibre bodies. RHEINISCHWESTF LISCHES ELEKTRIZIT TSWERK A.G. 11 Oct., 1967 [12 Oct., 1966], No. 46367/67. Heading C1A. [Also in Divisions C7 and H1] Electrode plaques or porous conductive supports for the active material of electrodes for electrochemical cells comprise a mass of initially unmetallized graphite fibres sintered together by means of a metal powder distributed through the mass. Such sintering may be achieved by the direct use of metal powder, e.g. Ni, or, for example, a graphite felt may be impregnated with a nickel salt solution, the impregnated product heated in a reducing atmosphere to form metallic nickel and the reduced product raised to sintering temperatures to produce the desired plaque. |
