A two-part handset has contacts of a contact set actuated by rotational movement of one part relative to the other. A hinge 4 connects the earphone part 1 and the microphone part 2. In the operative position B the exchange is looped whereas in position A it is not. Earphone part 1 springs from position A to position B by spring pressure automatically on lifting the set from its " on-hook " condition (A) face downwards on a table, or as a result of a manually released catch or push-button. In position B the two parts 1, 2 are conveniently placed for use. A push-button set 3 is recessed into the instrument body so that it will not disturb the user. A dial may replace the pushbutton set. |
