1,088,215. Turbine plant condensers. MASCHINENBAU-BALCKE A.G. April 26, 1966 [April 27, 1965], No. 18220/66. Heading BIB. Exhaust steam from a turbine 1 is condensed in a condenser 3 by indirect cooling with ammonia or some other liquid which has a high heat of vapourisation, a low melting point, and a high saturation vapour pressure at ordinary condensation temperature of the exhaust steam, the ammonia or other liquid which is vapourised by the steam condensing being fed via line 5 to an air condenser 6 and the condensate then recycled to the condenser 3. The condensate after leaving the air condenser 6 flows into a collector 8 and thence by gravity or by a pump to the condenser 3, a regulator 9 controlled by the liquid level in the condenser 3 being present in line 4. The pressure of the fluid is substantially the same at all point of its circuit, and the vapour conduits are of small construction due to the fluid occupying a relatively small volume. |
