A shedding mechanism comprises thread lifters 15 on the underside of a sheet of warp threads which, when selected, each raise an individual warp thread to a position in which it is engaged for complete shedding by an oscillating comb 19 having sideways directed teeth 199 to engage the threads. The threads may be individually selected for shedding by arranging fluid operated cylinders 14 to act on the lifters 15 or may be selected in groups by arranging fluid operated slides 31, 32 to act on a number of lifters. |
