PURPOSE:To execute long play recording and reproduction of three times by the same revolving speed of a cylinder as the case of a standard by executing the recording or reproduction once each per three times in the number of times by which a head traces on a tape, in case of a long play mode. CONSTITUTION:In case of a long play mode, the revolving speed of a cylinder 1 is the same as that of a standard mode, and a tape running speed becomes 1/3 of the standard mode. Therefore, an A head 2a and a B head 2b draw a locus by a pitch of 1/3 of the standard mode in order of 6a, 7b, 7a, 6b, 7a and 7b to a tape 3. Accordingly, when recording and reproducing operations are executed once per three times of the locus of the head, namely, a recording track 6a by the A head and a recording track 6b by the B head, pitches of the tracks 6a, 6b become the same as those of the standard mode. Also, the quantity of recording information per unit time becomes 1/3. In this way, even in case of the long play mode, such a problem as an air film is scarcely formed between the cylinder 1 and the tape 3, and also it does not occur that the optimum equalization is scarcely executed. |
