The accessory (30) is fitted to the spindle of a machine tool by means of an outer sleeve (11) which can be moved axially by hydraulic pressure. An end plate (11a) fixed to the sleeve (11) has teeth (12) formed on its outer face so that it forms one part of a Curvic coupling. The sleeve (11) encloses a hollow shaft (14) which has an end flange (14a). The inner face of this flange (14) is fitted with a ring which is provided with teeth which mesh with the radially inner parts of the teeth (12) of the end plate (11a). This flange (14a) has radial teeth formed teeth formed in its periphery which mesh with internal teeth in the bore of the accessory (30). Teeth on the end face of the accessory (30) mesh with the radially outer parts of the teeth (12) of the end plate (11a). -
