A fabric take down for a U-bed machine comprises an endless band 19 urged against a reaction member, with the nip positioned to receive the fabric before any substantial degree of waisting has occured. The reaction member may be a metal plate or a similar band. Several bands may be positioned in axial alignment and may be separately driven by drums 18. At their upper reaches the bands pass over a plate 12 in the apex of the space between the beds. The nip of the take down can be adjusted separately for each band, by screw 17 acting on a two arm lever 10 which supports the plate and a spring 14 pressing against it. The spring may be provided with an adjusting screw. |
