1,261,247. Heat development of films. MINNESOTA MINING & MFG: CO: Feb. 7, 1969 [Feb. 8, 1968], No. 6869/69. Heading G2A. A heat-developable film 10 is developed by passing it close to a porous plate 30 through which heated air passes. The plate 30 forms part of an enclosed chamber 20, into which air under slight pressure is admitted through a port 36. The air within the chamber is heated by a resistance winding 31, the temperature being controlled by a thermocouple embedded in plate 30. A similar chamber 21 may be positioned opposite chamber 20, the film 10 passing between the two opposed porous plates. The two chambers are mounted on a system of linkages 38-41, so that they can be moved towards or away from each other under the action of a hydraulic cylinder 45, and if the movement of the film 10 is halted for any reason, the chambers are rapidly separated. Immediately above chambers 20, 21 are ducts 22, 23 through which cooling air is supplied to the film for rapid termination of the developing process. |
