摘要 PURPOSE:To restrict damage and breakdown for members, such as piping, due to thermal shock and/or oxidization at high temperature by realizing the lowering and easy control of a fluid temperature as the result of devising an apparatus so as to be able to preheat a supply gas with an exhaust gas and cool the exhaust gas with the supply gas and improving the thermal efficiency of the whole cell, and by enabling the fuel cell system and heat exchanger to be arranged as a stack structure without requiring any heat exchanging medium and piping and, consequently, making the apparatus possible to be formed in a compact size. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel cell whose principal body made up of polygonal, multilayer-built cells is arranged inside a cylindrical manifold with a cover and a bottom, a plate type heat exchanger is assembled together with the principal body of the cell, and both are housed in the manifold to touch the manifold internally so as to carry out the heat exchange between each supply gas at low temperature for power generation and each exhaust gas at high temperature from the cell. And also, the heat exchanger of the cell has, in the vicinity of its periphery, a layered structure composed of at least five pieces of the heat conductive plates having respective transmission holes for supplying and exhausting fuel- and oxidizing- gas, and one of the mutually adjacent heat conductive plates is formed so as to have at least a flat surface excepting the peripheral part on one of the pair of their faces opposite to each other and the other one thereof has a channel for supplying or exhausting the fuel gas or oxidizing gas.
