PURPOSE: To ensure combustion treatment in a furnace without causing the existence of localised high temperature portion by employing at least two kinds of fuel-oxidant mixtures having a different oxidant-fuel ratio. CONSTITUTION: A first burner 10 and a second burner 12 are mounted on a ladle 2. At least one kind of a fuel-oxidant mixture from the first burner 10 has a smaller oxidant to fuel ratio RL than the entire oxidant to fuel ratio RG, while at least one kind of another mixture from the second burner 12 has an oxidant to fuel ratio RH beyond the entire oxidant to fuel ratio RG. Namely, there is provided a relationship RL<RG<RH. The burners 10, 12 are disposed at angles α, β from lines A-A and B-B, which angles α, βare preferably about 10 deg.. A flow rate of the oxidant is increased with respect to the burner 10 while being decreased with respect to the burner 12, an R value of the burner 10 is increased while that of the burner 12 is decreased, and a second combustion zone 16 is shifted to a right lower portion of the ladle 2 to ensure uniform heating over the whole of the lower portion 6 of the ladle 2. |
