The catalystic material of the electrode contains 5-90 wt.% of a mixture of two metals of the group IB of the Periodic Table, 5-70 wt.% mercury and 0-10wt.% of Rh, Ru, Pd, Os, Ir or Pt. A bonding medium such as finely dispersed PTFe can be mixed with the catalyst and be applied to the surface of a foil of a hydrophobic polymer such as a fluorocarbon polymer to act as the cathode. |
