1,157,769. Image scanning apparatus. C.I.T. COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS. 26 March, 1968 [4 April, 1967; 22 Aug., 1967], No. 14582/68. Heading H4F. A document 10, Fig. 2, is illuminated by light sources 21, 22 and an objective 12 co-operating with a mirror 13 provides a spherical image on a screen 14 formed by the inner face of a rotatable disc 30. The rotary member 30 carries eight optical fibres 41 to 48, Fig. 4, the outer ends of the fibres terminating in projections 341 &c. some of which may be blanked off as at 38, Fig. 2, if required. Adjustable screens 61, 63 define the scanning zone. The inner ends of the fibres co-operate with a mirror 28 to reflect light on to a photosensitive member 35 which is connected to an amplifier (not shown). In operation, the image on the screen 14 is scanned by the outer end of a fibre, e.g. 41, as the disc 30 is rotated and when the next fibre 42 enters the scanning zone the document is advanced along the arrow 15. The rotation of the disc 30 and the movement of the document may be produced by a single motor 23. The receiver, Fig. 7 (not shown), operates in an inverse manner. |
