The tack retention of the tackifying cements of Specification 1,104,597 is improved by adding thereto a metal salt or ester of a naphthoic acid. Specified naphthoates are zinc, silver, cadmium, cobalt, iron, nickel and C 1-12 alkyl naphthoates. An example describes a tackifying cement comprising (1) ethylene/propylene/diene terpolymer reinforced with carbon black and compounded with zinc oxide and conventional curatives, (2) butyl rubber and (3) an acetylene/p-t.-butylphenol condensate, polybutene-1 and zinc naphthoate, the components being separately dissolved in gasoline and the solutions mixed. |
